Nomad Gorilla and Masaai Mara trip. I made it back alive

I’m back.

Tired, dirty, happy, disorganised and suffering from acute post holiday blues.

I wish I was  still  in East Africa.

I really liked Kenya but I fell in love with Uganda.

I miss the simplicity of truck life & all my new friends.

I discovered the joy of birds in all their contrasting colours.

I have a million stories in my head but I am too tired to write them just yet.

So please wait, the stories and pics will come once normal life resumes.( I really can’t say when that will be)

For the curious who just can’t wait:

YES, I did see gorillas, one large teeth baring mommy even charged me.

YES, I stood on the Equator and beamed like a crazy person.

YES, I saw a gazillion giraffe, some of them no more than 3 months old.

YES, I survived the toilets of East Africa

and sadly….

YES, my padlocked, shrinkwrapped bag arrived in Cape Town minus the shrink wrap and padlock, my Garmin GPS, my GoPro and various leads, attachments and gadgets.

Luckily my souvenirs and gifts were untouched.

So far, SAA have been helpful, lets see how this nasty end to a fantastic trip unfolds.

I had the time of my life in spite of being up before 5am most mornings.

And now, I need a post trip nap, goodnight, I’m off to bed at 17.50pm

Omg, so sorry about your luggage. They removed the shrink wrap AND the lock?! I’ve never heard of such a thing. Unbelievable.

Sadly this is not uncommon at Johannesburg airport.

I’ve flown in and out of OR Tambo about 100 times and never had a problem! The only time my suitcase got robbed was in Nairobi 🙁
